!LOS COLORES!

New Mexico is always an inspiration, but this trip was even more incredible than the five others I've made over the years. This visit was highlighted by new scenery (namely the Jemez Mountains and Bandelier National Monument) and new friends. And, of course, color.

Unfortunately, the two incredible highlights of the trip went unphotographed: the Museum of International Folk Art and the corn dance at Jemez Pueblo. Suffice it to say that my mental pictures will last a lifetime. And then, of course, there's the book that is the museum's permanent collection. But the corn dance...Like I said yesterday, there are no words.

I met a woman on the plane to Albuquerque, who was traveling home to Jemez Pueblo for the weekend of ceremony and celebration. She invited us to visit on Easter Sunday and experience the corn dance. It was a day I will not soon forget. I cannot even begin to describe it here. As the dance was ending, our new friend invited us inside her family's home. We met her parents. We were given homemade bread and enchiladas (pictured here). We were overwhelmed.

The photographs here are from Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Chimayo, and Bandelier. You can see the rest of my pictures from the trip here.

I can't wait to go back.
